◆ The take

H is the European agentic-AI bet, built by the DeepMind research team that was responsible for many of the fundamentals of modern RL. The $220M seed round — before they'd shipped anything — was a statement that the team alone justified a near-unicorn valuation. Holo3 is the first credible product to validate that bet: production-quality GUI/browser agents are the most important unsolved problem in enterprise AI, and H is now shipping at that frontier. For investors who believe agentic AI is the next platform, H is the non-US alternative to Sierra, Decagon, and Cognition.

◆ Why it works

What's going for them.

  1. 01
One of the largest AI seed rounds in European history — $220M at $370M valuation in May 2024, before the company had shipped a public product. The bet was entirely on the team.
  2. 02
Founding team is ex-DeepMind: Laurent Sifre (AlphaGo co-author), Karl Tuyls, Julien Perolat, Daan Wierstra (DeepMind co-founder) — a research pedigree that's unmatched by any European AI startup except Mistral.
  3. 03
Holo3 (launched March 2026) — the first agent family that credibly performs browser and GUI automation at production quality, interacting with arbitrary web pages and desktop applications.
  4. 04
Angel cap table reads like a who's-who of tech: Eric Schmidt, Xavier Niel, Yuri Milner, Bernard Arnault (Aglaé Ventures), Galeries Lafayette family office. European establishment and Silicon Valley elite simultaneously.
  5. 05
Paris HQ plus a deliberately European talent strategy — the team is largely ex-DeepMind London, plus European ML researchers who didn't want to move to San Francisco. Structural hiring advantage in a talent-constrained field.

What they built

H Company (formerly Holistic AI) builds “action-oriented” AI agents — systems that can operate GUIs, browse the web, and complete multi-step tasks that previously required humans. The flagship product is the Holo3 model family, launched March 2026, which interprets web pages and desktop applications visually and operates them through clicks, typing, and navigation. The target use cases are horizontal — customer service, back-office automation, data extraction, compliance workflows — rather than specialized verticals like customer support.

How they got here

Charles Kantor (ex-McKinsey, ex-Stanford), Laurent Sifre (AlphaGo co-author at DeepMind), Karl Tuyls, Julien Perolat, and Daan Wierstra (one of DeepMind’s original co-founders) assembled the H team in late 2023. The research pedigree is genuinely unmatched by any European AI startup that isn’t Mistral — the team has been responsible for significant fractions of the foundational RL and game-AI literature over the last decade. The $220M seed round closed in May 2024, a mix of ~40% equity and ~60% convertible debt, at $370M post-money — one of the largest AI seeds in European history.

The first 18 months were deliberately quiet. H stayed in deep-research mode, building out the Holo family of models and the supporting infrastructure for long-horizon GUI control. Holo3 was the public demonstration of the thesis, launched March 2026, and received unusual attention — benchmarks showed it materially ahead of competing browser-agent products on WebArena and similar evaluations. Early enterprise pilots are now in progress with European financial institutions and large corporates.

What’s ahead

Three things define H’s trajectory. First, commercialization: Holo3’s technical quality is not in question; the question is whether the team can execute an enterprise sales motion at the same level. The angel investor list (Schmidt, Niel, Arnault) suggests strong European commercial access; whether that translates into repeatable ARR is the key 2026 story. Second, Series A: H will need to raise again in 2026 or early 2027 at a meaningfully higher valuation; the new round will price agentic-AI companies going forward. Third, US expansion: H is deliberately Europe-first for hiring reasons, but the biggest enterprise customers for agent products are in the US, and that’s the expansion question.

Why it matters

H is the non-US bet on agentic AI actually working at enterprise scale — and the only European AI company other than Mistral with a founding team that would not be out of place at OpenAI or Anthropic. For founders in agent-focused AI, H’s trajectory is important because if a non-US team can ship the highest-quality agent product, it loosens the assumption that Silicon Valley will inevitably own the agent category. For investors, H is the only way to get pre-Series-A exposure to a credible agentic-AI platform bet.
